Passero in Arlington Heights is a gem that has quickly earned a reputation for delivering fresh, flavorful Italian cuisine. Located at 3 S Evergreen Ave, this charming restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere where guests can relax and enjoy delicious meals made with high-quality ingredients. Whether you're stopping by for a casual dinner or a special celebration, Passero provides a dining experience that is both memorable and satisfying.

Walking into Passero, you’re greeted by the warm ambiance of a cozy yet sophisticated space. The restaurant’s open kitchen concept adds an exciting dynamic, allowing diners to see the skilled chefs at work. It’s this combination of atmosphere and attention to detail that makes it stand out in Arlington Heights.

The menu at Passero is carefully crafted, showcasing a mix of traditional Italian dishes and modern twists. From the first bite to the last, the dishes are bursting with flavor, and there’s something for everyone. The antipasti menu alone offers a variety of options, such as bruschetta topped with fresh tomatoes, basil, and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. This simple yet flavorful dish is a perfect start to any meal at Passero.

For the main course, the pasta options are truly impressive. The handmade pastas are rich and tender, each one paired perfectly with a variety of savory sauces. The pappardelle with braised short ribs, for example, is a standout. The tender meat and the wide, fresh pasta ribbons create a perfect balance of textures, while the rich sauce ties everything together beautifully.

If you’re in the mood for something lighter, the restaurant also serves an array of fresh salads, including the classic Caesar, with crisp romaine lettuce, homemade croutons, and a creamy dressing that’s not too heavy. For those looking for a heartier option, Passero offers a variety of wood-fired pizzas, all cooked to perfection in their open kitchen. The Margherita pizza, with its tangy tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil leaves, is a crowd favorite.

Seafood lovers will appreciate the well-seasoned fish dishes, such as the pan-seared branzino, which comes with roasted vegetables and a citrusy dressing that complements the delicate fish beautifully. The balance of flavors and textures in these dishes showcases the chefs’ expertise in preparing high-quality ingredients.

Of course, no meal at Passero is complete without dessert. The restaurant’s house-made tiramisu is a must-try. With its perfect layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone cream, and a dusting of cocoa powder, this classic Italian dessert brings the meal to a satisfying end. For those seeking something a bit different, the chocolate budino-rich and velvety-is a decadent choice that will please even the most discerning chocolate lover.

The service at Passero is impeccable. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, eager to guide you through the menu and make recommendations based on your preferences. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular, the staff ensures that your experience is seamless and enjoyable.

Located in the heart of Arlington Heights, Passero is easily accessible, making it a great spot for both locals and visitors alike. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a delicious meal, Passero delivers on all fronts. With its welcoming atmosphere, top-notch service, and a menu that highlights the best of Italian cuisine, it’s no wonder this restaurant has quickly become a favorite in the area.

For those planning a visit, it's worth noting that Passero gets busy, especially during weekends and holidays. It’s a good idea to make a reservation in advance to ensure you get a table. The restaurant also offers takeout and delivery, so you can enjoy their delicious dishes from the comfort of your home.

  • We had a nice dinner experience for the five of us. Service was good and attentive. Food was delicious, including the meatballs w polenta, brussel sprouts and fresh baked pizzas. We recommended it and would be happy to return again! (And we were able to split the hefty & scrumptious peanut butter-chocolate cake)

  • We celebrated a birthday here and everyone had a great meal & dessert. It is pricy (12" pizzas around $23.00, desserts - gelatto $8 & other desserts around $12.00). See pics of the desserts. The Gelato (2 scoops) with cookie. My boyfriend & I split this. We had salted carmel & double chocolate. It wasn't the same creamy consistency as all gelato I have had. More icy than ice cream. Very flavorful though.

  • This is a late review because I visited this place in April, but didn’t have a chance to write a review until now. I chose this place at random because it was close to my friend’s place. We arrived a bit before opening, and there was already a line of people waiting to get in. As soon as the doors opened, we were seated promptly and received fast, friendly service. As for the food, it was beautifully presented, but the flavors didn’t quite match my expectations. That may come down to personal taste, but I can’t say I truly enjoyed my dish. I ordered a salad with added salmon and a glass of wine — the wine was excellent! I’m sure the patio is beautiful during the summer, and I’d love to come back and try it when the weather is nice.

  • We visited this restaurant to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and the elegant atmosphere along with the thoughtfully prepared dishes made our time truly enjoyable. It was the perfect setting to share meaningful conversations and create memories. This is a wonderful place to bring someone special or to host an important guest. Interestingly enough, among all the dishes we tried, the dessert — especially the cake — left the most memorable impression. It was absolutely delightful.

  • We had a lovely dining experience at Passero on a beautiful Saturday night, with a perfect sunset and a gorgeous sky setting the tone. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to unwind. The charred octopus with arugula and fingerling potatoes was absolutely delicious—perfectly tender and beautifully plated. I also really enjoyed the La Rosita aperitif, and my French 75 was amazing—light, crisp, and perfectly balanced. We shared the Parma pizza, which came topped with fresh arugula. While the ingredients were high quality, it was a bit too heavy on the cheese for my taste, and the glaze was a little overpowering. Our server was so kind and attentive, which made the whole evening even more enjoyable. Great cocktails, great ambiance, and a memorable night—I’d definitely come back to try more of the menu!

  • Went to Passero for their Cin cin hour and was pleasantly impressed with all of the food options! Items ordered included the truffle fries, ravioli, meat slider, classico pizza, and smash burger for happy hour. For entrees we got the carbonara and the rib eye plate. Everything came out fairly quickly and the food runner was very attentive and kind. Upon taking our plates he even offered us new plates for additional food coming out. Food was delicious and would definitely order it all again. As for our server I wish I could say the same. While we were seated and greeted in a timely manner, we had to request for the happy hour menu to which was acquired from us shortly after. Later, I asked about the gift card promotion and while my questions were answered, the server was quick to deny my usage of it when our bill arrived. I informed her that I purchased my gift card online that day and received the card # and pin via email so if she could just attempt to use it that would be appreciated. After persistence and push back, she was able to use it and apply it to the bill but it shouldn't take that much just to use a gift card. I hope this would inform your staff that online gift card purchases can be used immediately so no other guests would have to experience this hindrance.

  • Girls night out. We ordered whipped ricotta for the appetizer- it was delicious. Then we had mushroom truffle pizza, meatballs with mascarpone polenta, and burgers. The food was pretty good but not top quality in my opinion. Good cocktail and wine selection. Overall it’s a decent place in the area. I liked the atmosphere (we sat on the patio) the service was great.

  • #147 on my list of pizzas to try and Passeros did not disappoint. Great neopolitan crust. Most neopolitan pizzas skimp out on the cheese and use too much sauce where everything just slides off the pizza. Passero uses a generous amount of mozzarella with very little sauce to give pie perfect proportions. Very important. A score of 85 out of 100 is respectable. The pasta was oversauced and very very very spicy.
